| Frequently asked questions about Interrobang Q: When and how was the company formed? A: Jim Allman founded the Interrobang Corporation in 1997, to provide a multimedia resource for clients in the Triangle area. Prior to this, he'd spent several years working in digital media, both as an independent consultant and as a staff developer for some great companies. Q: Why form a corporation? A: Many of our clients have had difficulties working with freelance developers, especially worries over IRS "independent contractor" guidelines. (The usual solution, paying higher rates to an intermediate payroll service, was pretty lame.) We realized that incorporation would eliminate those headaches for clients. It was also a chance to redefine the business, to move beyond the personal and promote a better way of solving communication problems (see next question). Q: What does "interrobang" mean? A: To quote the Random House Unabridged Dictionary:
What it means to us is the creative tension between inquiry (?) and persuasion (!). This principle guides our approach to solutions, process, and relationships.
Q: Isn't this a lot of fuss over a punctuation mark? A:
The secret of craftsmanship is that little things
mean a lot. If you're interested, we'd love to discuss these
ideas further over lunch.
